Running Running Running.. and it was hot!!

So last night at 8pm we decided to go to Chalmette, La and run a Bastille Day 2 Mile Race.  Why?!?! Free wine and cheese of course...

Finding the location was interesting, the GPS took us to an entrance that looked as it had not been open for a long time, so we just drove a circle around the park till we found an entrance that was open.

It was a small group, probably only 50 runners total and the Chalmette Track Club who sponsored it was great.  We always feel so welcome when we run races in Louisiana.  I finished it in 20:36, which was :36 seconds slower than I had set as my goal.  But crap it was HOT!!  I am not sure how much water I lost, but I will tell you that I was soaked by the finish line.

But the shirts were great and the beer was cold, and we got a free bottle of wine as a thanks for playing gift!!

All in all it was a good morning to be alive!!

First Post

Well isn’t this an exciting moment… My first post..  But since I am the only one reading this I guess it is like talking to myself.  I think I want to first explain why I am starting this blog that most likely will only be read by me. First of all I have shit to say and can’t find anywhere to say it.  Facebook has become a waste of (my)space, and most forums are full of people who are convinced they know more than everyone and aren’t afraid to tell you that.  Plus I have crappy grammar and I get tied of being told that by the punctuation police that seem to always monitor those forums.  I do have to give credit to http://www.reddit.com/   They have a great site with tons of info on all kinds of crap…  Ok back to me…  I titled this blog, Running, Paddling, & Reading   because dats what I do.  I just ran a 4 mile race on the 4th in Covington, LA and had a blast.  I am not the fastest, nor the slowest, but I have fun.  Last week I sold all three kayaks I owned and am now looking for newer and better!  This week I finished a great book, “The Courage To Start: A Guide To Running for Your Life” by John "The Penguin" Bingham.  If you have ever wanted to start running but just were not sure where to start.. This is the book for you!!

I will posting more soon, I hope I enjoyed reading about myself and I hope I come back again soon!
Thanks,
